Jocko Willink is a retired United States Navy SEAL, author, and speaker. He is best known for his service as the commander of Task Unit Bruiser, the most highly decorated special operations unit of the Iraq War. He is also known for his popular podcast "Jocko Podcast" and his books, including "Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win" and "Discipline Equals Freedom: Field Manual."
Willink joined the Navy in 1990 and was eventually selected to join the elite SEAL Team 3, where he served as a Platoon Commander. He deployed to Iraq in 2006 as the commander of Task Unit Bruiser, which was responsible for the training and advising of the Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Force. During his time in Iraq, Willink and his unit were responsible for the capture of several high-value targets and the successful execution of hundreds of combat missions.
After retiring from the Navy in 2010, Willink began sharing his leadership and experience through speaking engagements and writing. In 2015, he published the book "Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win," co-authored with Leif Babin, in which they shared their leadership experience and principles. This book is now considered as a classic in the leadership and self-help genre, and it became a New York Times bestseller.
Willink also has a popular podcast, "The Jocko Podcast," where he discusses various topics including leadership, discipline, and mental toughness, often drawing from his experiences as a Navy SEAL. His Podcast is well-regarded and has a large following.
In addition to his writing and podcasting, Willink is also the founder and CEO of Echelon Front, a leadership consulting and training company. He continues to be a sought-after speaker and consultant, advising businesses, organizations, and individuals on leadership and the development of mental toughness.
